There is a short Youtube movie which describes a solution of the 3x3 rubic cube, but I wanted to write it down on a single HTML page so that I can do some trial/error without watching the movie again and again. Links:

Step 1: White cross

--> Detailed step-by-step explanation for Step 1

At the beginning, you create a white cross on the white side. The result of step 1 is:

  • Minimal a white cross around the white center, maybe additional white corner pieces are already correct on the white side.
  • On all sides adjoint to the white side, you have at least the middle two pieces of the side color.

Step 2: White corners

--> Detailed step-by-step explanation for Step 2

In Step 2, you need to fill up the white corner pieces, so that in the end, you have

  • The white side complete (on TOP)
  • On all sides, you have the top row in the correct color, creating a T.

Step 3: The sides: Get the second row all the same color

--> Detailed step-by-step explanation for Step 3

In step 3 you are going to fill up the second row on all the sides with the right color, resulting in:

  • The white side complete (on TOP)
  • On all sides the top two rows are complete with the correct color

Step 4: Yellow cross

--> Detailed step-by-step explanation for Step 4

The only side which we have not looked into until now is the yellow side. In this step, we create a yellow cross on the yellow side. At the end of step 4, you have:

  • From previous steps: The white side complete (on TOP)
  • From previous steps: On all sides the top two rows are complete with the correct color
  • A yellow cross on the yellow side

Step 5: Yellow corners

--> Detailed step-by-step explanation for Step 5

Now what is missing are the yellow corners, so that in the end you have the yellow side complete.

Step 6: The corners of the last row

--> Detailed step-by-step explanation for Step 6

Now only a single layer is missing. To fix this, we need to fix the corners.

Step 7: The middle pieces of the last row

--> Detailed step-by-step explanation for Step 7

Now only the middle pieces of the last row need to be exchanged.
